During the optimist club breakfast on February 13, 2018 the Granbury Optimist Club president and GISD school trustee Barbara Townsend along with Optimist president-elect Ronnie Dunn presented a check for $ 5000 dollars to the Granbury education foundation president Stacy Mitchell and GISD superintendent and GEF board member Dr. James Largent,

According to the Granbury ISD,  the Optimist donation has funded certification exam fees for Granbury High School career and technical education students.  The recipients will have the opportunity to earn certifications in Adobe graphic design and audio/visual production, emergency medicine (EMT), floral design, hunter education, pharmacy tech, and veterinary medicine.

The Optimist Club supports local schools and numerous youth organizations.  The group also awards several scholarships to Hood County graduating seniors, who are also recognized monthly by the group’s Young Texan and Young Tex-Anne program.

Congratulation to Cash McKay and Breanne Irish! They were honored as the Young Texan and the Young Tex-Anne for February 2018 by the Granbury Optimist Club on Tuesday morning also.

The Granbury Optimist Club meets at 6:30 A.M. for breakfast every Tuesday morning at the Granbury Church of Christ.
